The Gala of Hope: An event to remember!

Each year, friends, supporters and benefactors gather at the Gala of Hope to celebrate the current success we are having in Haiti. With over 500 guests attending, the Gala of Hope has been a huge success in raising funds and awareness! A live auction creates excitement and hard bidding for vacation offerings, private dinners, Haitian artwork, tickets to sporting events and one of a kind jewelry. The silent auction and Haitian market allow everyone to take home a memory of the evening.

Thanks to the generosity of many Gala patrons, more children are sponsored and funds raised. The food is delicious and the dancing exciting! We are looking forward to another fantastic Gala in 2010!

One attendee, Ken Walton, said he was touched by the Gala of Hope on November 8, 2008. "I was delighted and surprised to see the number of people at the Gala. It was heartwarming to see so many people interested in helping the people of Haiti. The event was great; it was a lot of fun and it raised a fair amount of money for this deserving cause. The one item that really stands out to me though was the table that was promoting sponsorship of children at the Good Samaritan school in St. Marc. The pictures of those children brought a level of reality to this festive, fun-filled event and it made me want to be as generous as I could be. I met Dr. Mortel that night and I bought his book, 'I am from Haiti'. Reading that book has continued to enlighten me on the history and culture of Haiti and it makes a strong case for education being a key component to the resurgence of Haiti."
