The Lasting Legacy Dr. Mortel

Last month, students from College James M. Stine (CJMS) walked through the gates of the Saint-Marc Civil Prison — not to be served, but to serve.

Thanks in part to the Dr. Rodrigue Mortel Legacy Fund – which supports a special initiative in either the U.S. or Haiti every year – and the CJMS school community, our students delivered essential food and supplies to those often forgotten.

For many, it was their first time seeing this side of life and a powerful reminder of what it means to walk in compassion.

This act of kindness continues the legacy of Dr. Mortel: to serve with love, to lift up the vulnerable, and to go and do the same.
