Each year, we recognize the educators and students who go above and beyond — and this year’s award winners are nothing short of inspiring!

🏅 LBS Teacher of the Year: Willane Taine

Described by her colleagues as “the Haitian Mary Poppins,” Ms. Taine brings innovation, passion, and heart to her first-grade classroom at Les Bons Samaritains. A recipient of the Mortel Scholarship for continued education, she exemplifies what it means to lead with love and dedication.

🏅 Preschool Teacher of the Year: Ritha Cherilus Charles

With over a decade of service, Ritha is known for her care, collaboration, and joyful approach to teaching. Her colleagues say she brings the “art of teaching” to life every day.

🏅 Preschool Aide of the Year: Kevely Jacques

For four years, Kevely has brought patience, empathy, and positivity to the classroom. “Nothing seems difficult while doing something you love,” she says—and it shows.

🎓 The Pouyes Award Winners: Céphora F and Roldjy B.

Top of their graduating class, Céphora and Roldjy were honored for academic excellence and will receive additional support for their first year at James Stine. Céphora dreams of becoming a pediatrician, and Roldjy aspires to be a lawyer—big dreams fueled by your support.

Each honoree received a certificate and monetary award, thanks to the generosity of our donors and the thoughtful selection by our Mortel High Hopes for Haiti Board of Directors and staff.
