The Saturday before Mardi Gras, Feb. 22, 2020, we celebrated our annual Carnival in the Caribbean event in Hershey, PA with over 150 guests!

The evening included delicious dinner, dancing, an auction from around the world, raffles, and powerful testimonies from Board members. The highlight of the night was the personal testimony of Jhonson, one of our first students when LBS opened in 2001 and a member of the first graduating class at our high school, James Stine College. Jhonson was able to join us in-person to share his story and to express his gratitude for the impact his education has had on his path in life. He closed his testimony by explaining that he hopes to be a successful businessman in the future so that he can return to Haiti and “do the same,” as Dr. Mortel did. What an awesome experience to have Jhonson with us this year!

In addition to the incredible testimonies featured, the event was also a great success in that we were able to get nearly 60 students sponsored that night! The future in Haiti is brighter, one student at a time, thanks to all who joined our sponsorship family and supported the event, whether in-person, or virtually with our online auction!

A special thanks to our dedicated and tireless event committee as well as to all of our event sponsors for helping to make the evening a great time for all involved and a great success for the children in Haiti!
